The Day Boot vs The Boss Boot

I’ve had a few of you asking me to write a post comparing The Boss Boot and The Day Boot. These two pairs have been the workhorses in my closet last year and this year; they work perfectly with a variety of outfits. If you are thinking about these two pairs, read on!

I don’t need to elaborate on how beautiful these two pairs are. I love the pointy toe design of The Boss Boot and the elegant shape of The Day Boot.

THE BOSS BOOT

The Boss boot come in 4 colors, black pebble, black patent, burgundy, and bone patent (white). I bought mine in black pebble. When I decided to purchase The Boss Boot, I was searching for an alternative to Acne’s Jansen boot. I really liked the 2-inch stacked heel with the pointy toe.

What I love about The Boss Boot:

  • The neutral color selection
  • The pointy toe that instantly elevates any outfits and makes me look sharp and pulled-together
  • Rain-friendly sole
  • Structured leather

What I don’t love about The Boss Boot:

There is really only one thing that I don’t like about these boots, and that’s the shaft height. Everlane has a tendency to design items for taller gals and The Boss Boot is no exception. At 5.5 inches, the shaft height is out of my comfort zone. For us petite gals (I’m 5’2), the shaft should be about 1 inch shorter. You ask what’s the consequences of a high shaft heights for booties? When shafts are high, they limit the type of bottoms I can wear with these booties. They don’t look good with light to medium denim washes with these boots. My choices of outfits are quite limited with The Boss Boot. Everlane came out with a shorter version of the boot this year, The Boss Booties. I have yet to try them on. Maybe these will solve my issue! On the other hand, if you are taller, The Boss Boot will LOOK SO GOOD ON YOU!!

THE DAY BOOT

It’s no secret that I am super in love with The Day Glove. So when Everlane reached out with The Day Boot, it was an instant yes! I mean, can we ever have enough comfortable boots? The Day Boot comes in 6 colors, black, burgundy, Ecru (light yellow), navy, lavender, and brick. Mine is the brick. As much as I love the vibrant brick color, I would have gotten more wears out of the burgundy/black. Alright, let’s talk about what’s good and not so good about these boots.

What I love about The Day Boot:

  • Buttery soft leather with just enough heels. Not scratchy on the inside
  • Comfort
  • Short shaft height

What I don’t love about The Day Boot:

Guys, if you live in the Pacific North West, be aware that The Day Boot is not rain-friendly at all. The boot has leather sole and can only take very very very light moisture. Even if you topy’ed the sole, the water would still stain the surface leather as there is no protection for the outer layer of the shoe leather.

In comparison, if you are looking for somewhat rain-friendly boots, go with The Boss Boot. And if you are petite and are looking for more of an elegant, all day wear with comfort kind of boot, go with The Day Boot. I really enjoy both of these boots as they serve different purposes for me. If you ever decide to go with one of them, which one did you decide? Tell me in the comment or DM me on Instagram!!
