Tried-And-True Beauty (and some makeup) Products

favourite beauty products, makeup, cosmeticsI don’t talk about beauty products much because I am not one for trying new products often. Once I find products I like, I stick to it. Don’t fix something that’s not broken right? The following is the tried and true beauty products that I’ve been using and LOVE.

Alright, let’s talk about the products I SWEAR BY and RECOMMEND:

  • Clarisonic Mia Smart: if you are only getting ONE THING from this sale season, please get the Mia Smart with the foundation head and massage head. I can’t talk about enough good things for this beauty tool. I’ve been using the Mia Smart every day (this is saying a lot because I am someone who gives up easily haha) to cleanse, apply foundation and massage my skin. The Mia Smart gives such great results that even Johnny noticed the improvements in my skin. My skin is now tighter, firmer, smoother and has much better complexion. I don’t need to tell you how clean my skin is after using the cleansing head. Clarisonic has also developed their own app which can track your results and apply different routines according to your needs. Seriously, get the Mia Smart! I highly recommend. Oh, this makes a great gift to mothers, sisters and girlfriends!
  • OMOROVICZA Rejuvenating Night Cream: This brand might not be on your radar but it should be. Omorovicza is a Hungarian brand that delivers powerful skincare products. This night cream is great for dry skin that needs nurturing in winter. Though if you have oily skin, this might not be for you. True story: my friend thought I had gotten a facial after using this cream for two days.
  • LA MER The Moisturizing Soft CreamI will be honest with you guys about La Mer’s famous soft cream – this product does not give you immediate anti-aging results. Instead, the soft cream is in it for the long haul. I’ve known many ladies in their 50s and 60s who have great skin and they swear by La Mer products (serum, oil and face cream). If you are looking for a face cream that gives you results you can see in two days, don’t get La Mer. However, if you want to have good skin when you are older, La Mer is the way to go.
  • DRUNK ELEPHANT Lippe BalmMy all-time fave lippie. I’ve used many lip balms and this is so far the best. I will be stocking up during the Sephora sale. This lippie is moisturizing but not too oily, long-lasting and most importantly, it doesn’t leave white residuals on the edge of my lips.
  • FIRST AID BEAUTY Ultra Repair Cream Intense HydrationIf you look back to my beauty blog post from last year, you will also find this cream on my list. Like I said, I stick to the products I love. This First Aid Beauty cream is a basic cream that I use during the day, where I am not looking for anti-ageing or fancy effects. I layer it under my foundation and it works great. Because of its large size (6oz), it doubles as body cream when I travel – saves luggage room!

I am certainly not a makeup guru, but I love these products so much that I  ant to share with you guys:

  • URBAN DECAY Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid FoundationI used this foundation a few years back and loved it. I then went on trying other foundations for fun – you know, girls get bored of using the same product. On my journey of looking for other great foundations, I tried Giorgio Armani, Too Faced, Nars..etc. No luck. After two years, I circled back to this Urban Decay Naked foundation. It’s lightweight, buildable, blends well with my skin and makes my skin glow. I now have it in two shades, 3.25 and 3.5. Shade 3.25 for when I am not tanned during winter and 3.5 for summer. Needless to say, I highly recommend this foundation!
  • TARTE Tarteist™ Double Take Eyeliner: I have VERY VERY VERY oily eyelids. This is why I didn’t wear eye makeup much because everything goes to smudgetown after a couple hours. This Tarte eyeliner saved me! The eyeliner has dual ends, one with liquid eyeliner and one with pencil liner. The pencil liner is nothing special – like regular drugstore pencil liner. The liquid liner on the other hand? HEAVENLY! My eye line stays on so well and my under eye remains smudge-free for the entire day, I am taking about 12-hour days. The Tarte eyeliner doesn’t smear, flake or smudge, even on my waterline!!

My beauty/makeup products list is not long. Only the ones that are worthy can make the cut. Happy shopping, you guys! I am so excited that the holiday season is upon us. Bring on all the Christmas music!!

  1. I have been curious about Le Mer. Yes I do think long haul results are more worth while. Have you tried the eye cream I have good things.
